WEEK 10 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Week 9 Recap: What a day! Our athletes ran OUTSTANDING at the NLCC Championships. The coaching staff talked excitedly all day about the amazing performances. We competed at a high level in every race showcasing that we are arguably the deepest team in the NLCC! The Girls Varsity got the day started with a bang! Brooke Stromsland stormed to the front of the race and our scoring pack followed her lead. The white and black clad eagles controlled the race from the gun en route to a dominating victory. The girls ran so well that they could have scored 6 runners and still won! Brooke took the lead with 400m left for a come from behind win for her first ever NLCC XC title! Olivia Schmitt moved up meticulously to finish 4th overall! A convocation of Eagles finished in the top 12 with Maddie Perez (9), Alex Bryant (10), and Becca Runyan (12) earning all conference honors. The Varsity Boys also ran an inspired race. RJ Migas (6) and Jack Engel (10) gave us a strong presence up front and Nathan Rolla (14) made a strong push to also earn All NLCC honors. Ben Schneiderheinze and Talon Knauf rounded out our scoring in a hotly contested team battle. Despite a great team effort the Boys finished 3rd to solid squads from Grant (3A) and Grayslake Central (ranked #16 in 2A). Both JV squads brought the heat and missed winning by a combined 8 points! Krista Gfesser led the JV Girls as she won the race leading wire to wire! Kayla Dieringer busted out a PR and finished 3rd! Elise Coleman (8), Thea Lungay (9), and Danika Dortch (12) all finished in the top 12 to lead the team to an awesome 2nd place finish. Gavin Murrie and Micah Lind led a motivated JV Boys contingent. The duo tracked down a trio of Rams all race. Gavin burst into the lead with 250m left to secure the win! Micah had an awesome race in taking 3rd! Major PRs from Ethan Goode (10) and Ethan Carr (16) along with a gutsy race from Ty Dwyer (14) vaulted the team into 2nd and just 5 points shy of a victory. The last race of the day produced even more PRs along with great racing. Jayson Seiflow and Adrian Kupiec led the way for the boys with Emma Veres and Kaileen Arnholt leading the girls. Overall it was a tremendous way to showcase our hard work from this season. We are incredibly proud of our student athletes taking advantage of their opportunities and performing at an incredibly high level.

Week 10 Preview: It's hard to believe, but this is our last week as a full squad. All athletes get an opportunity to race this week. On Tuesday, the JV & FS athletes will compete in the JV Prospect Invite. On Thursday, we will host a mile time trial for all of our JV & FS athletes. Uniform turn in will follow the completion of the time trial, so attendance is mandatory on Thursday whether athletes are competing in the time trial or not. After Thursday, athletes NOT part of the top 14 IHSA State Series roster are not required to attend practice (they are still invited to). On Saturday we host the IHSA Regional for the first time on our Polley Field course. Please come support the team!

Shout Out: to our Senior class of 2020: RJ Migas, Talon Knauf, Tim Smith, Sean Humpa, Liam Faustino, Jacob Jarvis, Anna Gardner, and Olivia Schmitt.

Shout Out: Athletes of the week for week 8 were Julia Veres and Tim Smith. We are proud to have these athletes represent us.

Shout Out: to Emma Veres for finishing her first ever 3 mile race!
