MEET SITE: Deer Grove East Forest Preserve on Dundee Road, 1⁄4 mile west of Hicks Rd. Some (very limited) spectator parking is available. From Rt. 53, exit Dundee Rd. west. Go approximately 2 miles to Deer Grove. Turn right at first entrance past Hicks Rd. Course routes are 3.0 miles and 2.5 miles. 3/8” spikes are suggested for all.
2023 Palatine Cross Country Invitational Event Parking
PARKING: All busses are to unload athletes at the end of the drive past the finish line. The bus must then exit through maintenance area and park at the high school. Only exception will be if coach is driving the bus. Refer to the Map Limited parking is available in Deer Grove East. For those who might want to walk or bike in, parking is also available in the parking lot of the Hobby Lobby store on Dundee Rd, just before the Jewel at the corner of Dundee/Hicks. Walking distance to course is a little more than a mile.
A spectator shuttle will be available to Deer Grove East course from Palatine High
School parking lot. Palatine HS address is 1111 N. Rohlwing Road, Palatine, IL 60074
Traffic Flow
All traffic into Deer Grove East Forest Preserve will enter through the main entrance on Dundee Rd.
Team buses, shuttle buses, and cars dropping off handicapped or small children will exit through the
service entrance at Dundee Rd. and Smith Rd. These vehicles will then be parked at Palatine High
School for the duration of the event. A shuttle will transport all drivers to the course, if desired.
Traffic marshals will be deployed at five points in Deer Grove East: where the drive has a fork going
north, at the shuttle bus pick-up area, in front of the Invite pavilion, by the finish line tent, and at the
service exit onto Dundee Rd.
Spectator Parking and Shuttle Traffic Plan
Spectators can park in Deer Grove East until all available spots are taken. Then, all cars should be
parked at Palatine High School. District 211 will provide a shuttle from Palatine High School to Deer
Grove East.
After the lots fill, police directing traffic at the Dundee Rd. main entrance will advise
spectators to follow signs for parking at Palatine High School. Parking on one side of
the street in the Pepper Tree neighborhood will be prevented by order of the Police
Department and marked as such on the streets. No parking in the strip mall at Smith
and Dundee. Vehicles there will be towed. Two No Parking Signs will be posted.

Signs reading “CC Invite Parking” with appropriate directional arrows will be posted at the following
corners to direct spectator traffic to Palatine High School:
Smith Rd. and Dundee Rd.
Smith Rd. and Cunningham Rd.
Cunningham Rd. and Hicks Rd.
Dundee Rd. and Hicks Rd.

The three “Lot is Full” Signs will be left at the entrance for the Police.
Handicapped Parking
There are plenty of handicapped spots inside Deer Grove East. Should those spots become filled,
then the handicapped person may be dropped off at the course.
Emergency Vehicle Access
Posted “No Parking” signs in Pepper Tree should ensure access to those homes.

AWARDS: We will award 7 medals to the following top teams. The coach of these teams will receive a special award.
Team: Boys Frosh 1st 3 teams Girls Fr/So 1st 4 teams, Boys Soph 1st 3 teams Girls JV 1st 3 teams, Boys JV 1st 3 teams Girls Varsity 1st 5 teams, Boys Varsity 1st 5 teams
Individual: Varsity races 1st through 30th place medals. Soph, & JV races 1st through 20th place medals. Frosh & F/S races 1st through 25th place medals.
WASHROOMS: Portable washrooms will be provided. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER.
TEAM CAMPS: Tents and team areas should be set up on south side of the road. The pavilion is reserved for the Palatine HS cross country teams.
DRESSING: No locker rooms are available. Please come dressed and prepared to run.
T-SHIRTS: We will be selling Palatine Invitational MEET OF CHAMPIONS T-shirts for $15.00. Due to Cook Country Forest Preserve restrictions on sales...Coaches must send orders detailing colors and sizes needed by THURSDAY, September 21st at 5:00pm. T-shirts may be paid for and picked up at the meet headquarters.
CONCESSIONS: A food/drink tent will be set up by the cross country parents.
RESULTS: Results will be posted at www.PalatinePack.com shortly after the meet.
