Field Events
Each school can enter 4 competitors in each event. The top 3 competitors best marks will be combined to create the team’s relay score and place. If a team only has 1 or 2 competitors it will not count towards the team score, but those individuals will be given awards.
• Pole Vault – Starting height 7’8”, 6” until 13’2”, then 3”
• High Jump – Starting height 5’1”, 2” until 6’3”, then 1”
• Long Jump – Four jumps, no finals, flight 1 then flight 2
• Triple Jump- same as long jump. Run concurrently flight 1 then flight 2
• Shot Put – Four throws, no finals, flight 1 then flight 2
• Discus – Same as shot put. Run concurrently flight 1 then flight 2
Ties: Any tie in the field events will be broken by giving the better place to the team that has the best individual  mark. With ties in the track events, the points will be added and divided equally and the awards will be decided by a coin flip. In case of a tie for the team trophy, it will be awarded to the team with the most 1st place finishes, and if necessary, second place finishes, etc.
Frosh/Soph Events
To be in a F/S event an athlete must be a freshman or sophomore. Athletes competing in F/S events may
compete in varsity events as well.
Facilities
• All-weather, red synthetic 9 lane track
• Starting blocks will be provided
• Shot put and discus will be thrown adjacent to the track
• No locker rooms will be available. Athletes should not enter the building
• Portable restrooms will be available in the stadium
• A trainer will be in the garage next to the concession stand at the north end of the track
• No grilling allowed

Order and Description of Events
1. 300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles (4x300 IH) – Your slowest seed timed hurdler will be placed in the first heat while your fastest seed timed hurdler will be placed in the last heat. Each team must enter four hurdlers. Team places will be determined by adding up the four places and the school with the
lowest total points will be awarded first, second to the second lowest, etc. In case of a tie, the most points will be awarded to the team who has the best finisher in the fourth heat (fast heat). All four hurdlers must finish to be awarded points. All incomplete teams will be eliminated when determining place totals. Incomplete teams are only competing for times and awards. Relay scoring will be done by hand as the computer software can’t score it based on place – Green start
2. 6400 Meter Relay (4x1600) – Olympic curve – Green exchange
3. F/S 400 Meter Relay (4x100 meters) – Lanes all the way– Yellow & Yellow
4. Varsity 400 Meter Relay (4x100 meters) – Lanes all the way – Yellow & Yellow
5. 3200 Meter Medley Relay (400-400-800-1600 meters) – Lanes for the first leg – Yellow start – Green exchange
6. 440 Meter High Hurdle Relay (4x110HH) Same as 300 meter intermediate hurdles
7. F/S 1600 Meter Medley Relay (FS-MDMR) 200-200-400-800 meters – First two legs will run in lanes – Yellow exchange until 400 – Green exchange
8. Varsity 1600 Meter Medley Relay (V-MDMR) 200-200-400-800 meters – First two legs will run in lanes – Yellow exchange until 400 – Green exchange
9. F/S 800 Meter Medley Relay (FS-SMR) 100-100-200-400 meters – Run in lanes the first three legs – Yellow line – Yellow exchange – Green exchange 4th leg
10. Varsity 800 Meter Medley Relay (FS-SMR) 100-100-200-400 meters – Run in lanes the first three legs – Yellow line – Yellow exchange – Green exchange 4th leg
11. F/S 4000 Meter Medley Relay (FS-DMR) 400-800-1200-1600 – First leg will run in lanes – Green exchange – Yellow start
12. Varsity 4000 Meter Medley Relay (V-DMR) 400-800-1200-1600 – First leg will run in lanes – Green exchange – Yellow start
13. 800 Meter Relay (4x200 meters) – Lanes all the way – Black Exchange 1 and 2 – Yellow Exchange for 3
14. 3200 Meter Relay (4x800 meters) – Olympic curve – Green exchange
15. F/S 1600 Meter Relay (4x400 meters) – 3 turn stagger – Blue then Green
16. Varsity 1600 Meter Relay (4x400 meters) – 3 turn stagger – Blue then Green

Scoring
Varsity Relays: 1st Place = 12 points; 2nd = 10; 3rd = 8; 4th = 6; 5th = 4; 6th = 2
F/S Relays: 1st Place = 6 points; 2nd = 5; 3rd = 4; 4th = 3; 5th = 2; 6th = 1
Awards: Medals for 1st - 3rd; ribbons for 4th - 6th places. Team trophies for the Champion & Runner-Up.
Uniforms: IHSA guidelines. Uniforms should be matching along with underlayers being the same solid color.

One-Minute Limitation in Field Events: A contestant shall be charged with an unsuccessful attempt if he does not complete his trial or indicate passing it within the one minute after his name is called for the trial, unless excused by the field event judge to participate in some other event.

Ten Minutes Between Trials: A competitor excused to compete in another event shall have a maximum of ten minutes between trials.
